COVID-19/Coronavirus Information

The Village of San Leanna is closely monitoring the situation regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) and following up-to-date guidance from county, state, and federal public health agencies, including the CDC. As positive cases of the Coronavirus continue to rise across Texas, Travis County is among most communities who have made the decision to close public schools, bars, and restaurants, and restrict sizes of public gatherings within the county in order to slow the spread of the virus..

For up to date information from the City of Austin about local cases of COVID-19, please follow these links to visit the dashboard desktop version and the dashboard mobile version

It is important that we all follow directives from the County, State, and Federal authorities to slow further spread and prevent our older and immunocompromised  residents from becoming ill.

This website will be updated frequently with new information as it becomes available. As we work together to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community, here are the most important things you can do:

  • Wash your hands frequently, for at least 20 seconds each time.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • If you are sick, stay at home.
  • When in public gatherings, use social distancing. Social distancing includes maintaining at least 6 feet distance from all other individuals in a group setting and avoiding physical contact such as handshakes or other physical greetings.
  • Do not shake hands with others. Utilize other greetings, such as waving.
  • Fever, cough, and shortness of breath are the main symptoms of COVID-19.
  • If you have mild symptoms, call your healthcare provider first, unless you are elderly or have an underlying health condition. Hospitals can become quickly overwhelmed and in many cases do not have testing available, especially for mild symptoms.
  • In addition to slowing the spread of the virus, it is important that we take care not to overload our health care facilities, saving resources for those who are most in need.
  • Remember, most cases of COVID-19 are mild and individuals recover without medical intervention.
  • Individuals who are most at risk are those of advanced age, and individuals who have pre-existing health conditions or compromised immune systems.
  • At any time, your family should have an emergency kit ready to go in case of any emergency situation. These kits should include things like nonperishable food, water, flashlights, portable radios, batteries, blankets, medications, and items needed for your pets. In the case of COVID-19, you should prepare a kit for at least 14 days, if possible.
  • Do not hoard supplies. As you have likely seen recently in the media, many stores’ shelves are empty. It’s important to remember that while you should be prepared, you should not purchase or stock more supplies than you need. Particularly for vulnerable residents in San Leanna, Travis County, and throughout the region, access to goods and services may be more difficult. Over-buying depletes access for those most in need, and may drive up costs for goods and services.
  • If we work together, we can help keep our community healthy and safe. Be a good neighbor, check in on your family and friends, and help others in need.
  • If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Village office, and we will forward opportunities as they become available for volunteering.
  • If a family member, friend, or neighbor is showing symptoms of the virus, offer ways to help without coming into contact, such as dropping food or supplies outside their home.

If you think you may have COVID-19:

  • Do not go directly to a clinic or hospital unless you are experience life-threatening symptoms.
  • Your doctor will help make the decision if you should get tested for COVID‑19. Drive up testing locations are open now but do require a doctor’s referral.
  • If you do not have health insurance, you can still get tested for COVID‑19 if your doctor or healthcare provider recommends it.
  • For information about testing, you just need to call your doctor and/or access care the way you usually do. If you need help finding a doctor or accessing medical care, call 2‑1‑1 and they can direct you to low- or no-cost providers in your area.
